Chris Pine returns in Wonder Woman 1984!
It was announced early this morning that Chris Pine will return to Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor! What does this mean for the sequel to the biggest female lead superhero film in history?
WARNING: Spoilers Ahead
The last time we saw Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman he had sacrificed his life to save the lives of thousands from a deadly gas while Diana fought Aries. His last moments on screen were emotional not only for the moviegoers but for Diana as well as she watches helplessly as the plane carrying the gas explodes in the sky. Since his death many fans have speculated if he would return for the sequel as a ghost or descendant of his character. AMC Theatre's Facebook page recently released a photo of Pine on the set of Wonder Woman 1984 or '84' for short. From what we can see, Steve Trevor is walking through a mall and looking a bit older and in a 80's leisure pilot jacket. What does this mean for the DCEU and more importantly Wonder Woman herself? Is he an ally or foe?
Also released is a photo of Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) standing in the shadows in front of a wall of television screens. Diana can only be seen by shadow but a reflection on one of the screens shows her face as she looks on. What this means, who knows. Most likely it is just a promotional photo for the film but it could also be a clue to the tone of the movie.
DC Films & Warner Bros. confirmed that Kristin Wiig would be entering the DCEU as Wonder Woman's rival Cheetah. With the 80's backdrop and setting how will this film look like on screen? Patty Jenkins is also set to return to direct the sequel which is a favorable decision that fans and critics agreed after the success of Wonder Woman. For now we can only speculate until November 1st, 2019.
What do you think? How will Patty Jenkins and co. bring back the fan favorite pilot into the Wonder Woman sequel? Leave your comments below!
