In a week of first looks, we got our first look at the new Chucky from the Childs Play remake. Not much is known from the reboot, only that Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman. From several entertainment news sources, the film will be a huge departure from the original with Chucky being a defective doll with several programming abilities, allowing it to learn and get violent. In the original, the character of Charles Lee Ray inhabited the body of a ‘Good Guy’ doll that tormented and murdered those close to Andy Barclay until deciding to transfer his soul into his.
Fans of the original are taken aback from the new direction the remake is going as they feel the doll will lose it’s charm and personality that Brad Dourif had injected in the 1988 version. Don Mancini, the creator of Child’s Play has not been too high on the remake as he continues to create more Chucky films and a TV series that is in the works with his original team that includes the man that made Chucky a household name.. Brad Dourif. Child’s Play (Remake) is to be directed by Lars Klevberg and released next year. The last installment of Don Mancini’s Chucky films Cult of Chucky is available on streaming services and digitally on iTunes or MoviesAnywhere. Stay tuned as we discuss more about the horror next month with a series of video’s on classic horror films.
