Sophie Auster's sleek Tom Waits cover

Brooklyn's own Sophie Auster took on one of the underrated greats when she covered "Take Me Home," a doleful ballad by Crystal Gayle and Tom Waits. The stripped down piano cover, taken from Francis Ford Coppola's 1982 romantic musical One from the Heart, sees Sophie showcasing her lower register in a warm interpretation that injects levity into a heart-wrenching track. The indie folk siren filmed the session with Spindle Magazine at WMA Studios in Greenpoint.
The daughter of acclaimed writers Siri Hustevdt and Paul Auster, Sophie has the soul of a cabaret singer, the lyricism of a poet, and the voice of a Lana Del Rey and Fiona Apple hybrid. Recently proclaimed "the sound of New York" by D, la Reppublica magazine in Italy, the internationally renown starlet is currently on tour in Europe.
