Nora West-Allen & Iris West-Allen

On the sixth episode of season five of The Flash, the S.T.A.R. Labs team investigates more about the night of the enlightenment and how Cicada came to be. This plot line saw Iris, Nora, and Sherloque search for the core of the fallen satellite that Barry & Nora destroyed in the season 4 finale. Although the plot was short we were able to see the rekindling of Nora’s and Iris’ bond as Nora wants to spend more time with her younger mom from the past (technically our present but her past, time travel is complicated..). This can’t be said enough but the casting of Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen is so spot on. Tom Cavanaugh didn’t have much to do in the show but I have a feeling he will get his episode soon enough. Ralph and Cecille look into FEMA facility that would have helped those injured during the enlightenment in hopes of finding a clue to who Cicadas identity really is. Hartley Sawyer has really stepped up his game this season and really grounding his characters humor which last season almost felt too cartoonish.

Meanwhile, the OG Team Flash of Barry, Caitlin, and Cisco investigate the whereabouts of Caitlin’s father Thomas Snow. The trio arrive in the north pole where her father is hiding out and they learn that with the help of Harrison Wells and Victor Fries (pronounced Fr-eeze aka Mr. Freeze, one of Batman’s famous enemies in DC comics). After returning from his isolation, Cisco grows suspicious of Mr. Snow which ultimately reveals that he is Icicle, Thomas Snow’s alter ego, much like Caitlin with Killer Frost. So far this season, the story progression with Caitlin has been fun and even led to a new meta villain that will probably stick around and return at some point in the season. This was a very Caitlin centric episode and I loved it for that. The little parts that unfolded are eventually leading up to finding Cicada and I’m excited about what will happen once it does. Overall, the episode was fun, light-hearted and progressed the season along very well. Points on seeing Killer Frost again.
