The Coronavirus has caused a worldwide panic over the course of the past week. The NBA was the first to feel it’s effects as the season had been suspended, then the NHL, and even the world of entertainment has felt it with scheduled film releases being pushed back months (F9 starring John Cena was even affected being pushed back nearly a year from it’s release). The last to hold out is WWE with Wrestlemania, even though the company has taken precautions and producing live shows but with no audiences they have yet to determine whether or not Wrestlemania will take place on April 5th or moved to a lter date this summer/year. While the WWE is hopeful that Wrestlemania will go on without a hitch it seems that the city of Tampa has warned WWE that if they decide to continue with Wrestlemania that they will pull the plug on the event for health and safety concerns of those attending. Talk about a shit show, as if that wasn’t enough it seems WWE are holding out to deliver any news about the event until the week before it is scheduled to air on the WWE Network. With the recent travel ban that won’t allow UK airlines or passengers to enter the US for 30 days as announced by President Trump, this ban could affect the influx of UK and possibly fans of other countries to enter the US.

Lets talk about why WWE should have already made a statement about Wrestlemania:

  1. Waiting 1 week before the show to announce any details leaves fans out of the states in a limbo as cancelling flights, hotels and possibly other paid events such as Wrestlecon, and Axxess impossible with a total refund. The festivities have been known to start days before the big show and it could leave a sour taste in the fans mouth if WWE disregards their ability to travel or not.

  2. WWE could take a hit on the business side of things, they have already taken a huge PR hit when they decided to cut a deal with the Saudi government a few years back to run arena shows in their country. Now with sports organizations like the NBA, NHL, and even the XFL either suspending or cancelling their seasons the only company left is WWE and they could get into hot water with not only fans but investors.

While the timing of this outbreak is not ideal for anyone, companies like the WWE need to take into consideration the health and safety of the fans attending these shows for the foreseeable future. While the news media has caused a state of panic all across the globe it is important to stay calm and take in the facts day by day.
